Lead Law Update (FAQ Series): What area of the City of Philadelphia has the highest concentration of properties built before 1950?

We are regularly receiving questions regarding the new Lead Law and have created a weekly “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ’s) forum for you as you desire to become more informed of the Lead Law and its complexity.

This week we are featuring a common question:

Question: What area of the City of Philadelphia has the highest concentration of properties (and potential for having a higher risk of lead) that were built before 1950?

Answer: 

The City of Philadelphia did an extensive study of lead commencing a “Lead Advisory Group” who issued a report in June 2017 with a map of the city (by ZIP code) of the properties built before 1950 (with the idea that these ZIP codes may have lead paint)

 

The map below indicates the concentration by ZIP code

As a reminder, the NEXT PHASE of ZIP code implementation began on October 1, 2021 as follows:

19107. 19118. 19125. 19128. 19129. 19130. 19135. 19145 19146. 19148. 19153
