Alert: Lead Law Update (FAQ Series): State of New Jersey Announces New Lead-Based Paint Law

Dear Lead Testing Services Customers-

On July 22, 2022, the State of New Jersey enacted the Lead-Based Paint Law, requiring all single family, two family and multiple rental dwellings built prior to 1978 to be lead certified.

·      All rental dwellings are required to be inspected for lead-based paint within two years of the effective date of the law or upon tenant turnover, whichever is earlier.  This means that the first inspection must take place no later than July 22, 2024.

·      Each municipality will either require a Visual Inspection or a Dust Wipe & Visual Inspection
